flying through august

august is always a bit crazy. its the nature of being in youth ministry...life just gets hectic in august. but with the romania and brotherhood trip leading up to august...it really snuck up on us! i don't even remember half of it...but now looking back on pictures, i'm glad for the few extra things we squeezed in!
i went to grapevine for the young living convention on my own. on saturday night, i skipped a few sessions to be with the all my siblings because they were celebrating the array of august birthdays that we have. it really fun to see everyone for the evening...and we even got a pic of the original 6...
literally the day i returned was our church pool party. tysen has been asking for about 2 years to be baptized...what a special time to see him persist in this area. and you can really see Jesus in his sweet heart. he loves to sing...and he will make up his own songs...that are always so precious as he sings about a powerful God...maybe he will write worship songs someday!! such a pure heart...
had a special visitor!! always love our hudspeth girls...it was bittersweet to have leah graduating, but oh so fun to have sarah beth in town!!!
we did a week of NO screen time!! i thought it would be challenging, but it turns out...it was the best week of the summer! the boys had so much bonding time...played games constantly...played outside....and really just enjoyed each other! even though it came as a consequence...it was a HUGE blessing. and probably something i will work in much more often in the future. life is just easier without technology!!! their friends all knew that no screens were allowed, and they would still come play games ....all day...every day!!!  and these crazy forts happen when dad gets involved.
another HUGE milestone is that logan has not entered our youth group!! what an adjustment!! :) he was so excited for the first event...i'm so proud of this young man. he has a little posse of friends that come to church with him...its just such a privilege to be involved with these kids!!
